Red Fish the highlight going into Septmber

By August 24, 2011No Comments

In the past few trips I have ran I have really started to see the Red fish activity pick up on the flats of Tampa Bay. High tides have enabled us to get up on the shallow water flats and use a stealthy approach for finding schooling Reds. We have seen some schools up to 150 fish and sizes have ranged from 22 to 29 inches. Our bait of choice has been smaller greenbacks suspended under a cork with lots of chum bait to draw them in. Red fish are not only fun to catch but they are also great to eat. Although Reds have a slot size which runs from 18inches to 27 inches and are open year round, we have been catching plenty of slot sized fish. Limit per day is 1 per person. If your coming down to the Tampa or St Petersburg area and are looking to have a great time on the water give me a call on my cell at 813-727-9890 or shoot me an email at captjasonp@aol.com.
