Tampa Fishing Report

By March 28, 2010No Comments

Well the Big Black Drum have continued to be the highlight for fishing in Tampa Bay this week. They are schooled up on various flats milling around in search of  different types of bait. We have also continued to see good numbers of Trout caught in the lower part of Tampa Bay. My best approach has been artificial baits. I have had great success with the soft plastics, especially the DOA Cal baits. Matching this with an 1/8 once jig head has worked every time.  Red fish are also schooled up but the clear water matched with low tides has made it difficult to get close enough to cast without spooking them. If you can get close enough using cut Pin fish has been the go to bait. Sheeps head has also been a good targeted spiecies as they invade Tampa Bays wrecks and artificial reefs during there spawn. Fishing is good so the next step is to get out on the water! Tight Lines.
