Our fishing charters in Tampa Bay produce some great catches on just about every trip. As we edge closer towards summer fishing, the weather is great, consistent, and fishing is just as good. On any given day you can expect to catch Snook, Redfish, Trout and a Tarpon. Some other overlooked species while on a Tampa fishing charter would consist of Some great Mangrove Snapper fishing, Gag grouper in shallow water, and maybe a big Cobia if you are lucky. Fishing here in Tampa Bay is some of the best around.

What to expect on your next fishing charter includes having the right catch bait. The preferred bait for most of the year would have to be greenbacks. These are a frisky bait fish that are caught on the flats this time of year. The typical morning starts with chumming up the flats at sunrise to draw the bait to the boat.

We use a castnet to catch the bait. Once chummed up and my preferred size net is a 12 foot cast net. This net is perfect for the flats and has a great spread to ensure we get plenty of bait. As a result of the right tools with just a few cast on the Tampa Bay flats you can have up to 500 baits in the livewell. Every great day of Tampa flats fishing starts with a livewell full of bait.
